We are seeking a Specialist Occupational Therapist (OT) to join our Making Every Adult Matter / Rough Sleeping team in Hull. The role focuses on promoting the safety and welfare of vulnerable adults, with a particular emphasis on safeguarding, holistic assessments, and rehabilitation. This position involves both management responsibilities and hands-on clinical work, supporting individuals with complex needs to achieve greater independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Safeguarding and Customer Focus:
Promote and safeguard the welfare of vulnerable adults, ensuring their safety and welfare.
Recognize risk indicators of different forms of abuse and neglect, and apply a person-centered, outcome-focused approach to safeguarding.
Conduct holistic, strengths-based assessments to recommend appropriate assistance, equipment, adaptations, and rehabilitation.
Support and progress grant applications, such as the Disabled Facilities Grant.
Prepare and implement rehabilitation programs to maintain or increase functional and social independence.
Provide specialized clinical advice on safe moving and handling for individuals with complex needs.
Performance Management:
Supervise and manage Occupational Therapists, Assistants, and Students, ensuring an effective and timely service.
Coordinate services for adults with multiple disadvantages, supporting families and carers in adjusting to changing circumstances.
Contribute to team planning and support the team manager in improving practice and performance.
Engage in practice development forums and decision-making processes for complex/high-risk cases.
Ensure accurate case recording and maintain up-to-date knowledge of equipment and best practices.
Support the Line Manager in reviewing and improving service delivery, fostering innovation and motivation within the team.
Monitor and review equipment provision, ensuring it meets individual needs and provides best value.
Training and Development:
Contribute to training programs to enhance skills, knowledge, and independence for individuals and carers.
Use research to support personalized care and promote choice and independence.
Provide leadership through reflective practice, supervision, and appraisal.
Assist in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Statutory Obligations:
Maintain knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Care Act, Housing Regeneration (DFG) Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, Mental Capacity Act, and Human Rights Act.
Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation, taking reasonable care for personal and others health, safety, and welfare.
Adhere to the Council's Safety Policy and Program.
Essential Requirements:
Qualification: Degree in Occupational Therapy or equivalent.
Registration: Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
Experience: Proven experience in a similar role, particularly with vulnerable adults and safeguarding.
Skills: Strong communication, assessment, and clinical skills, with the ability to manage and support a team.
Knowledge: In-depth understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
