Position: Speech and Language Therapist (Inpatient Stroke and ESD Team)
Location: PRH Inpatient and/or ESD Williams Farr House RSH, Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust
Rate: Band 6 or 7 (Capped rate)
Hours: Weekdays with the option to participate in the inpatient stroke rota at weekends and bank holidays
Start Date: ASAP
Duration: 3 months
Additional Information: Ideally available for weekend working on a rota basis (approved as NON-DE)
Pay Rates:
AHP
Band 6: Day - £29.78, Night/Sat - £38.71, Sun/BH - £47.65
Band 7: Day - £34.98, Night/Sat - £45.47, Sun/BH - £55.97
About the Role:
Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust is seeking a skilled and motivated Speech and Language Therapist to join our Inpatient Stroke and Early Supported Discharge (ESD) Team. This role involves working with patients recovering from strokes, providing essential speech and language therapy services to aid in their rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment and Treatment: Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans for patients with speech, language, and communication disorders resulting from strokes.
Collaboration: Work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and physiotherapists, to ensure a holistic approach to patient care.
Rehabilitation: Deliver evidence-based therapy interventions to support patients recovery and improve their communication and swallowing abilities.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and discharge summaries.
Patient and Family Support: Provide education and support to patients and their families about stroke-related communication and swallowing difficulties.
What We Are Looking For:
Qualifications: Degree in Speech and Language Therapy, HCPC registration.
Experience: Relevant experience in stroke rehabilitation and inpatient settings preferred.
Skills: Strong assessment and therapy skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Flexibility: Availability to participate in weekend and bank holiday rotas.
