About Us:
We are seeking a Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our team at Hull City Council, focusing on supporting individuals experiencing rough sleeping through the Making Every Adult Matter initiative. Based at a dynamic and supportive environment, this role involves providing specialized occupational therapy assessments and interventions to facilitate the rehabilitation and social independence of vulnerable adults in Hull.
Role Overview:
As a Specialist Occupational Therapist, you will play a pivotal role in supporting individuals who are rough sleeping to access appropriate support and services. Utilizing a strengths-based approach and adhering to Home First principles, you will collaborate closely with multi-disciplinary teams, families, carers, and community stakeholders to promote independence and well-being.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive and proportionate assessments to identify the needs of individuals experiencing rough sleeping.
Develop and implement personalized rehabilitation programs aimed at enhancing physical and social independence.
Provide specialized clinical advice on safe moving and handling for individuals with complex presentations.
Collaborate with colleagues, health professionals, and voluntary sectors to ensure integrated and holistic support for service users.
Supervise and support Occupational Therapists, Occupational Therapy Assistants, and students to ensure effective service delivery and development.
Ensure compliance with relevant legislation including the Care Act, Mental Capacity Act, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, and Health and Safety at Work Act.
Requirements:
Qualified Occupational Therapist with significant experience in a social care or healthcare setting, ideally with experience in homelessness or rough sleeping services.
Knowledgeable in strengths-based practice, Home First principles, and holistic assessment methodologies.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-agency environment, supporting vulnerable adults and promoting safeguarding principles.
Strong leadership and supervision skills to guide and develop junior staff and students.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
