We are currently seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join our Community Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) team.
Role Overview:
As a Qualified Social Worker in the Community DoLS team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that individuals in care and support settings, including those in tenancy arrangements, are not deprived of their liberty unlawfully. You will undertake Mental Capacity Assessments (MCAs) and, where deprivation of liberty is identified, you will be responsible for making applications to the Court of Protection (CoP).
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive Mental Capacity Assessments (MCAs) for individuals in care and support settings and tenancy arrangements.
Identify instances where deprivation of liberty is occurring or likely to occur.
Prepare and submit applications to the Court of Protection (CoP) when deprivation of liberty is identified.
Compile and complete all relevant CoP forms and statements accurately and within specified timelines.
Work collaboratively with legal teams to ensure all legal requirements are met and documentation is thoroughly prepared.
Maintain detailed and accurate records of all assessments, applications, and legal documentation.
Liaise with individuals, families, care providers, and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to care and support.
Stay informed about legislative changes and best practices related to DoLS and MCA.
Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with a valid Social Work England registration.
Demonstrable experience in conducting Mental Capacity Assessments and understanding of DoLS.
Strong knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) and Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) legislation.
Experience in preparing and submitting applications to the Court of Protection.
Excellent report writing skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and manage a caseload effectively.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults.
