I am working with a Public Sector based in Nottingham, who are looking for a Senior Finance Business Partner.
The role is hybrid, a contract opportunity for 3 months with possibility to extend and is based in and Kettering (possibly Corby/Thrapston too on odd occasion)
ROLE OVERVIEW
The Senior Finance Business Partner plays a pivotal role in driving financial planning, control, and reporting within the organization. This position requires expertise in preparing annual accounts, developing financial processes, and delivering training to both officers and members. The role involves leading and inspiring a team, effectively communicating complex financial issues to non-financial stakeholders, and working collaboratively to support corporate goals. Proficiency in IT and accounting standards, along with an understanding of local government finance, is essential. The Senior Finance Business Partner must demonstrate strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to manage performance under changing conditions, ensuring all deadlines and targets are met with minimal supervision. The role also involves occasional travel within the county.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
- CCAB Qualified
- Appropriate Management Qualification
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
- Preparation of annual accounts closedown, including the Statement of Accounts
- Proven staff leadership and management experience
- Financial Planning, Control, and Reporting
- Development of Financial Processes
- Delivering financial training to officers and members
- Effective communication with finance staff and managers; high-level negotiation and influence
- Understanding of local government finance and its complexities
- Knowledge of IFRS, CIPFA codes, and Taxation
- Professional level experience in local government
- Experience working with private, public, and voluntary organisations
ABILITY AND SKILLS
- Communicating complex financial issues to non-financial managers and external organisations
- Well-developed IT skills (spreadsheets, PowerPoint, general ledger packages)
- Technical finance accounting skills for non-technical audiences
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to travel to all areas of the County
