Position: Qualified Social Worker - Adults & Safeguarding Team
Location: 6 Knowsley Place, Angouleme Way, Bury, BL9 0EL
Pay Rate: £30 per hour
Start Date: 30th September 2024
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8.45am - 5.00pm (excluding bank holidays)
Agile Working: Combination of office and home working (minimum 2 days in the office/home visits per week)
About the Role:
Bury Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Adult Safeguarding Social Worker to join our Adults & Safeguarding Team. This is a dynamic and complex role where you'll balance risk management with individual rights and choices, all while making a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable adults in our community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a diverse caseload, balancing risk with individual rights and choices.
- Screen new safeguarding concerns as a duty worker, managing immediate risks and making decisions in line with Section 42 criteria.
- Undertake Mental Capacity Act assessments and best interest decisions, including Court of Protection work.
- Support the development of students, newly qualified social workers, and less experienced colleagues.
- Collaborate with partner agencies like the Police and NHS to co-ordinate risk management and safeguarding responses.
- Lead Section 42 enquiries in accordance with the Care Act 2014, ensuring the focus remains on achieving the best outcomes for our customers.
- Advocate for the 'Making Safeguarding Everybody's Business' approach, supporting individuals, colleagues, and partner agencies to understand their roles in safeguarding adults.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of policies, practice changes, and Social Work England registration requirements.
- Participate in formal supervision every four weeks, actively engaging in your Continuing Professional Development.
Skills & Experience Required:
- Significant experience in adult safeguarding within the framework of the Care Act 2014.
- Proven ability to work autonomously, make informed decisions, and respond to shifting priorities and risks.
- A proactive, motivated attitude with a commitment to service development and transformation.
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills and a commitment to peer support and shared risk management.
- In-depth knowledge of legal frameworks and policies related to social work and adult safeguarding.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and evidence-based case recordings to a professional standard.
- Commitment to practicing in line with Social Work England standards and meeting PCF and KSS competencies.
