Are you a passionate and dedicated Qualified Social Worker looking for your next opportunity? Calderdale's Learning Disability & Neurodiversity Team is seeking an experienced social worker to join their dynamic team within Adult Services & Wellbeing.
About the Team
The team consists of:
1 x Team Manager
2 x Team Leaders
1 x Practice Lead
7 x Social Workers
2 x Service Coordinators
With a supportive and collaborative environment, our team operates a hybrid working model. You will be required to work a minimum of 3 days from the office, with duties shared across all members. Duty days typically occur once a week or twice a fortnight, and are based in the office to ensure support from the duty manager and colleagues.
Role & Responsibilities
As part of this team, you will be working with vulnerable adults, some of whom may make risky or unwise decisions. You will manage a caseload of up to 15 people, depending on the complexity of cases, and be responsible for navigating challenging situations in a person-centred and compassionate manner.
Key responsibilities include:
Conducting Care Act Assessments
Carrying out Mental Capacity Assessments
Making least restrictive Best Interest decisions
Chairing meetings and attending court hearings, particularly with the Court of Protection
Engaging in multi-disciplinary work, collaborating closely with other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for individuals
About You
To succeed in this role, you will need:
Experience: Working with individuals who have Learning Disabilities and/or Neurodiversity
Skills: Strong assessment and decision-making abilities, with confidence in completing Care Act and Mental Capacity Assessments
Court Experience: A solid understanding of the Court of Protection and familiarity with attending court for individuals without mental capacity
Personality: Compassionate, kind, and person-centred, with a proactive attitude and strong work ethic
Self-Motivation: The ability to work independently, using your initiative to manage complex cases
