We require an experienced Advance social worker to support the work of the Emergency Duty Team in Hull City Council.
The role of the team is to respond to emergency situations relating to children that arise outside of normal office hours. The post-holder will need a good understanding of safeguarding procedures and be experienced in holding Strategy Discussions and progressing S47 Investigations
.
We require social workers who are able to work autonomously, manage competing demands, and work under pressure without the on-site support of their line manager.

Your main responsibilities include:
* Ensure that work referred to the Children's Emergency Duty Team is undertaken in a timely manner and completed to a point where the safety of children and young people is assured, and the work is in an appropriate state of progress to pass onto daytime teams for continued involvement or follow up.
* Work in partnership with children and families and, through building effective relationships, to elicit their needs and views and promote participation in decision making. Communicate effectively in highly charged, complex or challenging circumstances.
* Undertake assessments in accordance with statutory/regulatory and operational standards, policy, and procedures for the service, ensuring that quality practice standards are achieved in delivery high quality services to children and young people.
* Conduct telephone discussions, or undertake visits, if this is required/proportionate, with families in crisis and negotiate actions which assist families to find their own short-term solutions
* Arrange and chair Strategy Meetings in relation to Children where there are concerns regarding significant harm, acting as Social Care Agency Decision Maker for the purpose of the meetings.
* Undertake investigations and assessments where children are believed to be at risk of significant harm and make decisions in negotiation with the Police and other agencies, developing Safety Plans that ensure the child's immediate safety, utilizing the family and professional network where appropriate.
* Undertake unannounced visits to monitor compliance with an agreed safety plan, where there are significant concerns about a child's safety and welfare.
* Maintain up to date records of children's intervention, safely and confidentially in accordance with the Council's policies and procedures, using management information systems which will be used in planning or reviewing cases by daytime colleagues
* Make proactive use of supervision to extend effective practice, reflection and career development and to meet the objectives of Professional Development Reviews.
Essential requirements:
* Social Work England registration
* Eligible to work in the UK
* 2 years+ post-qualified experience
* Degree level or equivalent in Social Work
