Job Title: Occupational Therapist (OT) - Access and Independence Service
Location: Haringey
Pay Rate: £39.96 per hour
Job Description:
Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting for a skilled and dedicated Occupational Therapist (OT) to join Haringeys Access and Independence Service. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in improving the quality of life for service users by providing initial assessments, supporting goal setting, and promoting independence within the home environment. You will work across teams within the Access and Independence Service, including First Response, Reablement, and Assessment Service.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct initial assessments for service users with complex care and therapy needs
Support service users in setting client-centered goals to enhance independence and well-being
Facilitate choice and empowerment using evidence-based interventions
Assess and provide equipment to promote independence and reduce risk of injury
Manage manual handling assessments and optimize care packages for single-handed care
Independently manage a caseload, ensuring effective prioritization and time management
Identify service users for Continuing Health Care for managing complex health needs
Recognize safeguarding concerns, conduct risk assessments, and refer where appropriate
Assess capacity and decision-making ability in line with the Care Act and Mental Capacity Act
Make cost-effective recommendations for specialist equipment and home adaptations
Conduct carer assessments to support informal carers and prevent carer breakdown
Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records on the councils IT systems, ensuring high-quality data entry
Ensure confidentiality in all matters relating to service users in line with Data Protection Act and Caldicott Guidance
Foster strong relationships across Adult Social Care services and with external agencies such as NHS Trusts, Mental Health services, and voluntary organizations
Supervise and support OT Assistants and junior team members, including participation in OT student training and staff induction
Act as a skills resource for professionals across Adult Social Care when required
Requirements:
HCPC registration
Experience working with adults in a social care or health setting
Strong assessment, care planning, and risk assessment skills
Ability to work independently and manage a diverse caseload
Excellent communication and multi-disciplinary teamworking skills
