About the Role
Are you passionate about amplifying the voices of children and ensuring their involvement in decisions about their future? Slough Children's Services is looking for a dedicated Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our Quality Assurance and Safeguarding Service.
As an IRO, you'll advocate for Children Looked After (CLA), championing early permanence planning and ensuring care planning aligns with their best interests. Your ability to engage children in the review and planning process is vital, ensuring their voices are central to every decision.
Key Responsibilities
Champion CLA Voices: Advocate for children to ensure their voices influence decisions and plans affecting their lives.
Care Planning: Promote early permanence and monitor progress to achieve timely outcomes for children.
Challenge and Escalation: Use effective escalation processes to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Participation: Actively engage children in the review and planning process to empower their involvement.
Expertise: Share knowledge in training forums, meetings, and within the department.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
Social Work Qualification: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
Extensive Post-Qualifying Experience: Including managerial experience at Assistant Team Manager level or above.
Strong Legal Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the legal framework for Children Looked After, including the Children Act 1989, Care Planning Regulations, and IRO Handbook (DfE 2010).
Challenging and Escalation Skills: Demonstrated ability to challenge effectively for the best outcomes.
Training and Collaboration: Experience contributing to training and collaborative departmental initiatives.
