? Pay Rate: Up to £35 per hour LTD (+ £150 per week expenses for candidates living outside West Sussex) or £38 per hour LTD
About the Role
West Sussex County Council is seeking a dedicated Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join the Mental Health Team. This challenging yet rewarding role involves delivering statutory social work services to individuals accessing specialist mental health services. Responsibilities include assessment, planning, intervention, and review while focusing on specialist areas such as peri-natal care, early intervention, transitions, and homelessness.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management: Act as the allocated social worker managing complex cases involving mental health challenges.
Specialist Leadership: Lead on specialist areas of service delivery and ensure effective communication of key developments.
Risk Assessment: Prioritize needs, balance risks/resources, and formulate effective intervention plans.
Partnership Working: Collaborate with carers, colleagues, and external agencies for optimal service delivery.
Continuous Learning: Stay informed about changes in legislation, research, and best practices.
Communication: Use advanced skills to negotiate, explain complex information, and influence outcomes.
Essential Qualifications and Skills
Education: Degree in Social Work or equivalent qualification.
Registration: Active registration with Social Work England.
Experience:
Working with individuals with severe and enduring mental health issues.
Managing safeguarding cases and addressing complex needs.
Partnership working within multi-agency settings.
Knowledge:
Advanced understanding of social work practices, research, and legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
Risk management and therapeutic interventions in mental health.
Skills:
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a solution-focused approach.
Effective communication and negotiation abilities.
Ability to manage a varied and demanding caseload.
Other:
Approved Mental Health Practitioner (AMHP) qualification or willingness to achieve it within 2 years.
Full, valid driving license (required for county-wide travel).
