About the Role
The Adolescent Safeguarding Team delivers statutory social work services to young people at risk of contextual harm. This includes working on assessments, Child in Need plans, Child Protection cases, and court proceedings. The team operates within the Specialist Adolescent Service, collaborating closely with the Youth Justice Team, Substance Misuse Service, and Prevention Teams.
We are seeking a Senior Social Worker (SSW) to provide stability and expertise during a period of transition, ensuring that statutory duties are met and that vulnerable adolescents receive the support and protection they need.
Key Responsibilities
Statutory Social Work:
Undertake assessments, Child in Need, and Child Protection planning for adolescents at risk of contextual harm.
Manage cases that progress to court, including preparing reports and representing the service during proceedings.
Risk Management: Safeguard young people exposed to risks such as exploitation, gang involvement, and substance misuse.
Collaboration: Work closely with specialist teams and external partners to deliver holistic support to young people and their families.
Case Management: Prioritize and manage a diverse caseload while ensuring high-quality interventions.
Support Transition: Help guide the team through gaps in capacity, maintaining service continuity and adherence to statutory requirements.
Key Requirements
Qualifications: Degree in Social Work with active Social Work England registration.
Experience:
Demonstrable experience in statutory social work with adolescents.
Strong understanding of contextual safeguarding, exploitation, and related issues.
Court experience, including writing reports and attending hearings.
Skills:
Excellent risk assessment and management skills.
Ability to build trust with young people, families, and partner agencies.
Strong organizational skills for managing a varied caseload.
Availability: Ability to support the team with a hands-on approach during a period of change.
