Derbyshire County Council is seeking an experienced Social Worker to join the Locality Team, based at Floor Erewash, Mercian Close, DE7 8HG. This frontline role focuses on Children and Families Social Work, specifically handling duty and assessments, court work, and care proceedings. The position offers a competitive pay rate of £35 per hour (umbrella).
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide frontline social work services, conducting duty and assessment work to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.
- Manage cases involving court proceedings (private law, care proceedings from start to finish) and ensure effective representation of children's best interests.
- Carry out timely assessments and create care plans tailored to the specific needs of children and families.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with DFE statutory guidance and local policies.
- Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns, making informed decisions to ensure positive outcomes.
Essential Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with registration under Social Work England.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience working in Children and Families Social Work within an English Local Authority.
- Proven experience in duty and assessment, court work, and care proceedings (private and public law).
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
- Recent experience in frontline children and families roles. (Candidates with Looked After Children, Fostering, or Disabled Children experience as their most recent roles will not be considered.)
