Job Title: Social Worker - Family Support (Long Term Locality Team)
Pay Rate: £38 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: 30 hours per week
Location: Civic Office, Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes, MK9 3EJ
Hybrid Working: 2 days from home (flexibility required for office/community visits)
Role Overview
Milton Keynes Council is seeking a Qualified Social Worker to join their Family Support Team South, a long-term locality team. This role involves managing a diverse caseload of Child in Need (CIN), Child Protection (CP), and Looked After Children (CLA), including work under Public Law Outline (PLO), Care Proceedings, and Private Law Proceedings.
Key Responsibilities
Case Management:
Hold and manage a caseload of CIN, CP, and CLA cases.
Ensure statutory responsibilities and timescales are met.
Legal & Court Work:
Work under PLO, preparing cases for care proceedings and attending court hearings.
Complete court reports, statements, and assessments as required.
Multi-Agency Collaboration:
Work closely with families, schools, health services, and other professionals to support positive outcomes.
Assessments & Care Planning:
Undertake risk assessments, parenting assessments, and develop robust care plans.
Monitor progress and update plans as needed.
Child Safeguarding:
Identify risks and implement safeguarding interventions.
Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Reviews, and Core Group Meetings.
Support & Advocacy:
Build relationships with children and families to empower them and ensure their voices are heard in planning and decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
Qualifications & Registration:
Social Work Degree (or equivalent).
Registered with Social Work England.
Experience:
Minimum 3 years post-ASYE experience in CIN, CP, or CLA teams.
Strong experience in court work and care proceedings.
Skills & Knowledge:
In-depth understanding of Children's Act 1989, Public Law Outline, and court processes.
Ability to work autonomously and within a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for report writing and court attendance.
