Role Overview
Norfolk County Council's Family Assessment & Safeguarding Team (FAST) is seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join their fast-paced and dynamic team. This role requires an assertive and proactive practitioner with a strong background in Child Protection, Court Work, and Safeguarding.
? Immediate start available - Hybrid working (Office & Community-based)

? Court & Legal Work - Represent the council in care proceedings & PLO cases
Key Responsibilities
? Assessment & Intervention
Conduct statutory Child & Family Assessments under Section 17 & Section 47 of the Children Act 1989.
Develop & implement Child in Need (CIN) & Child Protection (CP) plans.
Manage cases under PLO (Public Law Outline), working towards permanency planning.
? Safeguarding & Risk Management
Lead on Child Protection investigations & work collaboratively with multi-agency partners.
Identify & assess risk factors, ensuring timely and effective interventions.
Undertake complex direct work with children & families to achieve positive outcomes.
? Court & Legal Proceedings
Prepare & present court reports, care plans, and statements for care proceedings.
Attend court hearings & PLO meetings, providing expert testimony when required.
Work closely with legal teams & guardians to ensure the best outcomes for children.
? Multi-Agency & Partnership Work
Collaborate with health, education, police, and voluntary organisations to support families.
Chair CIN & Core Group Meetings, ensuring multi-agency input in care planning.
Advocate for children's rights, ensuring voice & wishes are central to decision-making.
Candidate Requirements
? Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England
? Minimum of 2 years' post-qualifying experience in Child Protection, Court Work, and Safeguarding
? Experience in PLO & Care Proceedings - Writing court reports & attending hearings
? Strong legal knowledge of the Children Act 1989, Working Together 2018, & PLO framework
? Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
