We are seeking an experienced Qualified Social Worker to join the Duty & Assessment Team (DAAT) at Northamptonshire Children's Trust. As the first point of contact for all incoming safeguarding concerns, this is a fast-paced, frontline role that requires strong assessment skills, resilience, and the ability to work under pressure.
DAAT consists of six teams, each with a Team Manager, Advanced Practitioner, Social Workers, Newly Qualified Social Workers, and Family Support Workers, ensuring a structured and supportive working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
?? Triage and assess safeguarding concerns referred via MASH
?? Complete timely Child in Need (CIN) & Child Protection (CP) assessments
?? Conduct home visits within statutory timescales (CP cases within 24 hours, CIN cases within 5 days)
?? Work within an allocated geographical area to reduce travel requirements
?? Ensure compliance with the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and other relevant legislation
?? Work closely with partner agencies to ensure coordinated multi-agency responses
?? Attend strategy meetings, initial child protection conferences, and court proceedings when required
About You:
? SWE Registered Social Worker with a minimum of 2 years DAAT experience
? Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation, risk assessment, and crisis intervention
? Ability to work at pace and manage caseloads effectively (capped at 35, currently averaging 25-30)
? Excellent assessment, communication, and decision-making skills
? A team player who thrives in a structured and well-supported environment
