Agency Social Worker - Looked After Children (LAC) & 16+ Children Looked After Team (UASC)
About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join the Looked After Children (LAC) Service & 16+ Children Looked After Team, including support for Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC). This role requires a strong commitment to supporting children and young people in care, ensuring they receive the right level of service at the right time.
As a Social Worker in this team, you will be responsible for ongoing assessment and intervention, working closely with children, families, and partner agencies to progress care plans and ensure the voice of the child is central to decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake assessments and interventions with children and families.
* Progress children's plans and ensure access to appropriate services.
* Visit and work with families, assessing and re-assessing children's needs while in care.
* Act as Case Manager, coordinating review meetings and ensuring effective case planning.
* Serve as Key Worker for cases where a CLA Plan is in place.
* Complete Child & Family Assessments and contribute to identifying children in need.
* Provide information and advice to children and families to assist in resolving issues.
* Liaise with other agencies to coordinate resources and arrange necessary support.
* Fulfill statutory duties as directed by senior leadership within Children's Services.
* Prepare and present evidence and reports for Court proceedings.
* Participate in the team's Duty system as required.
* Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with CLA requirements and council policies.
* Collaborate with parents, guardians, carers, and professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children.
Requirements:
* Qualifications: DipSW, CQSW, or an equivalent social work qualification.
* Registration: Must be registered with Social Work England.
* Experience: Demonstrated experience working within Looked After Children (LAC) services.
* At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
* Knowledge: Strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices.
* Skills: Excellent assessment, risk management, and case planning skills.
* IT Literacy: Ability to maintain computerised case records effectively.
* Other: A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle are essential.
