? Hiring: Qualified Social Worker - Permanence Team (Portsmouth Council) ?

About the Role:
Portsmouth City Council is looking for an experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join the Permanence Team, supporting some of the most vulnerable children in the service. You will play a key role in care planning, direct work with children, and securing positive long-term outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
? Develop and implement care plans for children and young people in care.
? Undertake direct and life story work to support children's identity and emotional wellbeing.
? Promote positive outcomes for children, ensuring stability and security in their lives.
? Support permanence planning, including adoption, long-term fostering, and reunification (going home pathway).
? Work closely with foster carers, families, and professionals to ensure the best interests of children are met.
? Ensure compliance with legislation such as the Children Act 1989 and the Adoption and Children Act 2002.
? Attend court proceedings, write reports, and give evidence when required.
? Maintain accurate case records and ensure high standards of professional practice.
Key Requirements:
? Qualified Social Worker (QSW) with Social Work England registration.
? Experience in children's social work, particularly in permanence, looked-after children, or fostering/adoption.
? Strong knowledge of care planning, safeguarding, and permanency pathways.
? Ability to work with children and families directly, understanding their needs and advocating for their best interests.
? Excellent report writing and assessment skills, including experience with court work.
? Strong communication and multi-agency working skills to liaise with foster carers, families, and professionals.
