Social Care Direct has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and experienced Social Worker to join our team. As the first point of contact for all new referrals to Wakefield Council, you will play a key role in triaging new cases, providing urgent responses, offering advice, information, and signposting to appropriate services.
This role is ideal for an AMHP (Approved Mental Health Professional) who enjoys fast-paced work and thrives in an environment where no two days are the same. You will be expected to practice as a Best Interest Assessor, AMHP, Practice Educator, or ASYE Assessor, while supporting and leading the team in championing new initiatives and developments.
Key Responsibilities:
Triage referrals and assess requests for social care assessments and safeguarding referrals.
Offer immediate advice and signpost individuals to the relevant services.
Attend multi-agency meetings and take a lead role in new initiatives and team developments.
Work closely with a team focused on urgent, short-term interventions and crisis response.
Ensure safeguarding procedures are followed in accordance with council guidelines.
Ideal Candidate:
Qualified Social Worker with experience in crisis intervention and short-term case management.
AMHP status required, along with practice as a Best Interest Assessor, Practice Educator, or ASYE Assessor.
Excellent communication skills, particularly in handling complex cases over the phone.
Strong time management and prioritising skills, thriving in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work flexibly, covering out-of-hours shifts as part of a 6-week rota.

Tea Shift: 16:30 - 01:00
Night Shift: 18:00 - 06:00
Friday:
Tea Shift: 16:00 - 01:00
Night Shift: 18:00 - 06:00
Weekends:
12-Hour Shifts: 12:00 - 00:00
Day Shift: 06:00 - 18:00
Night Shift: 18:00 - 06:00
