This is an Interim Cover for the Service Manager for HOUSING on the Isle of Wight, located off the south coast of England with quick direct links via boat to Southampton, Portsmouth, Southsea and Lymington.
It is likely the individual will be required on site for the majority of the working week so applicants must be prepared to be located on the Island for the contract. There is also an out of hours / callout element - due to the nature of this position 37 hours per week
We need an experienced and effective leader for the role of Service Manager for Housing, to operationally manage housing teams within the Adult Social Care and Housing Directorate.
Successful candidate will take the lead on elements of our housing transformation programme and deliver responsive, effective and safe services for housing that best meet the needs of the individuals the service supports.
Using a person-centred approach, the candidate will work in close partnership with provider organisations to deliver a service which is consistent, meets legislative requirements, and maximises the resources available.
Candidates will need a detailed knowledge of housing issues, as well as the national guidance and statutory requirements which surround the areas managed, alongside substantial experience of working in complex and sensitive situations, in a calm and proactive manner.
Candidates should demonstrate previous experience of managing and delivering services, ideally within a multi-agency setting.
The successful candidate will:
Hold a Degree in Housing related area or equivalent.
Have extensive understanding of housing, ideally relating to homelessness or housing renewal.
Attend the Leadership Group meetings, playing a full and active role in the corporate leadership, the management of the department and wider Council.
Ensure policies and procedures are compliant, delivering a consistent and lawful application of policy into service delivery.
Have excellent interpersonal skills when liaising with colleagues, partners and customers at all levels.
Be able to manage change and enhance organisational performance
